Traditionally styled, it still retains features like exposed beams, bench seating and an open fire in the bar. The handpumps are in a line along the wall resulting in it being known locally as 'the pub with no bar'. This is one of the few pubs from where CAMRA was launched nationally in 1972, driven by early campaigner the late Peter Linley. In that same year, Walsall CAMRA was formed with an initial brief to cover the country from here north to John O'Groats. On the edge of town, this is a real back-street gem dating from 1845. The pub takes its name from the coloured glazed bricks on the front. The pub has a front bar with a warm, convivial atmosphere and the snug-style lounge has a more intimate feel. Cobs and pork pies provide sustenance alongside the extensive range of ales from nearby and further afield. Walsall branch pub of the year.
